Does it have to be your finger when checking your blood sugar?
When using a blood glucose meter, could I do it somewhere other than my finger? Or will this give me different results?

When using a blood glucose meter, could I do it somewhere other than my finger? Or will this give me different results?
ok so not even 10 minutes ago i took a blood sugar test. I got an 85. Im 13. But I don’t know if that’s high or low for my age, my grandma says its low but she isn’t sure because im 13. So what number does it have to be for a 13 year old? Also i don’t have diabetes, although i have pre diabetes
Also im feeling all dizzy and my head hurts like a whole lot
How much did it cost for you to get tested for diabetes?
What is the normal blood sugar of someone who is pregnant after eating dinner? Or the recommended amount of sugar for that time?
My doc said I am borderline diabetic so he didnt really have any explanations and I have a blood sugar monitor, and I was 123 after dinner two hours after. I wanted to make sure that it was ok. I dont want to have a 10 pound baby!! ![]()
Oh he said I was ok’d not to have to monitor it, by how low my scores were. I am chubby but not giant and I just was wondering..
My 45 year old sister recently had some pretty serious vision anomolies occur and I very worried about her and I want to make sure she gets the correct diagnosis and treatment right away.
Here are the details:
-45 years old
-Obese her entire life
-Inactive life style and very poor eating habits
-Sudden Vision change last week…described at wavy and distorted vision. Serious enough that Dr. told her to not drive and get blood testing done immediately.
-Blood sugar results 192 (normal range 65-139) Diabetic range starts at 199
-Hemoglobin normal
-Cholesterol 134
-Triglycerides 163 (normal range 0-149)
-Family history of Stroke (father)
-She had some exams done in July to look at her Carotid Artery and they came back fine.
My worry is this: Although the she is not technically considered diabetic yet she is having some pretty bad symptoms which I am worried are not due to her border line Diabetes. And, even though her Carotid testing done in July showed no plack I still feel that a stroke or impending stroke might be a possibility due to the fact that our fathers stroke did not originate from the Carotid Artery.
I have 2 JRT’s One is 3 that is OZ who you see pictures of and the his brother is Russy and hes 2. He is on OZ’s page he is the one with the wired hair. Well Russy has began to have medical issues this past month. He began to have allergies that were making his belly and paws red. This was being treated with Pretezone from my vet. (I am sorry for the spelling on some of the medication I mention) This medication began to get him real down and sleepy so my vet changed the medication to Medrol. He was on Medrol for 8 days and this past wednesday the 8th he began to vomit. He vomited a total of 11 times that day. The first two times he vomited a bit of his food and the rest was just water that he had drank the rest of the day. He lost his appetite and does not want to eat anything. From peanut butter to soft food I mean nothing. He was put on medication for the vomiting Sucralfate, Metoclopramide and one more that I can not remember. This did not help and He has become more weak and does not want even water at this point. Saturday I took his back to the vet and had more X-rays were taken along with blood work and urinary analysis. His X-rays show that his intestines might have a blockage. The X-rays show a bit of cloudiness but nothing significant that can be seen. He is currently in the hospital on IV and fluids. A Barium was done today so maybe we can get a clearer idea with new X-rays if something is blocking his intestines. The Barium was negative and the fluid passed right through all his organs. The next step was an ultrasound that also came back negative. All of his organs from kidneys to liver were fine. He had a pendesitis test ran to rule out diabetes and that came out okay as well. The blood work did show some high and low levels of many things but the vets say that can be to not eating for 5 days and not receiving the proper nutrition were the body is starting to brake down its own body fat. My next option is Exploratory surgery. I am positive that he has not gotten into anything that he might have swallowed but with JRT you never know. They are quick, curious and sneaky. I keep my yard extremely clean and my house has never had any toxins like cleaning supply or garage stuff left out. I will do anything for my JRT but I fear that after the surgery I will still not have any answers to why he has not appetite for 5 days going on to 6.
Has anyone ever had any issues similar to mine?
If anyone can offer any advice it would be great. I love my JRT I do not have kids so these are my kids. I am desperately seeking answers.!
I went through a period of about 4 days last week of having to urinate every 30-60 Min’s and also having a constant thirst. I really got worried i could be a diabetic.
I suffer from anxiety and was wondering if this could of made the symptoms worse? Also i take medication for it and wonder if that helped also.
I have a blood test on friday to check to see if i am a diabetic. I have no family history also.
My children seems to have blood sugar related problems (like hypoglycemia), but urine tests don’t show diabetes. The pediatrician has only tested urine and I don’t know what else to ask for or what specialist I could go to for a more detailed look at their symptoms. One child takes medication for seizures and the medication is also an insulin mimic. The other child also seems to have symptoms which seem to fit blood sugar issues but does not have seizures. There is a strong family history of diabetes. Is there a “metabolic” specialist I could look for? Thanks for any direction.
