Emergency Glucose/Glucagon Kits!

All Diabetics that use insulin, especially children with Type 1 Diabetes, should have access to an emergency glucose kit, also known as a Glucagon Emergency Kit. When a Diabetic misses a dose of insulin, takes too much insulin, or, for any reason, has a very low blood sugar level, the person can lose consciousness and go into shock.  For diabetics, one of the most needed things (except for insulin) is having a glucagon shot and someone capable of using it when necessary.

Diabetes is Common and Controllable

People who have higher sugar levels than normal are known to have borderline diabetes or prediabetes. This means that the person is on his way to being diabetics but it can be prevented provided they take care of their health and their food intake. Borderline diabetes people have a very good chance of becoming diabetic if proper care is not taken on time. The term “borderline diabetes” was also introduced and popularized by the US health department to spread awareness about diabetes and the seriousness of the disease.

People between the age of 40 and 70 are most prone to the disease. A person who has diabetes has to make sure that regular exercising and healthy eating habits are incorporated into their lifestyle to tackle the diabetes. Dieting is not an option that is necessary. Eating everything in moderation will be sufficient as long as the diabetic person takes exercising seriously. Once a person is diagnosed with diabetes, he will probably carry on with the disease throughout his life unless strict lifestyle changes are incorporated and continued.

Diabetic supplies can be expensive, and although there are many devices that don’t need to be replaced often, such as monitors, lancets, and pumps, there are other supplies that do need to be repurchased frequently. Testing strips, insulin, syringes, and lancets are just a few that often need replacing. Purchasing these products from your local pharmacy over and over can become quite exhausting and expensive over time.

Typical brick-and-mortar pharmacies can have long lines, and their schedule may not always fit yours. You have to rely on their hours and their staff to have what you need when you need it. But many times they don’t have what you need or the pharmacy is closed leaving you to wait another day. Along with the re-occurring costs, going constantly to the pharmacy to get your refill can be very stressful. For diabetics, this is not always an option.
