Glucose Meter Kit Options
Article by Diabetic Supplies
The test strips that go into glucose meters have been changing over time. The latest ones are faster. They are better, and they will help you be more accurate in your tests. You should be testing yourself every day. The newest active test strips for your monitors just make more sense for you to use it.
For the same price you can get the latest technology. You would not be driving an older car for the same price as the best technology out there. Especially when the units are pretty much free for you. Thus switching units should not be a big deal. Your fingers get sore all the time from the old lancets because the old test strips require you to use a lot of blood. You will be wasting much less blood, and time, and patience since the new test strips need a much smaller amount of blood. You were saturating the old test strips with your blood all the time just to ensure that you would get an accurate reading. You also had to wait for the results. The latest focus of technology is to reduce the amount of blood sample that the test meter needs to make sense of your free blood glucose levels.

Article by Erik Jones
Why Nutrition is Important
Almost two-thirds of adults are classified as overweight or obese based on Body Mass Index (BMI). Clearly, there is a strong link between nutrition and obesity. Other medical conditions, such as diabetes, osteoporosis, hypertension, cancer, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease can also be linked to poor nutrition and obesity, as well as a sedentary lifestyle. While healthy nutrition habits are inherently important for your overall health and wellness, they are critical while engaging in any type of physical fitness training. Your success in weight loss, muscle gain, and endurance all depend heavily on your ability to monitor your diet choices and work openly and honestly with your doctor, dietitian, and personal trainer.

Invisible Food Particles Can Alter Blood Sugar Readings
Article by Dr. Victor Machione
If you have diabetes (or someone you know does) it’s likely that you have to check your blood sugar levels regularly. In fact, you may be performing a “finger-prick” blood test a few times a day. Accurate readings are a must for maintaining good health. You might not be aware, however, that food particles on your fingers can push blood sugar readings higher than they really are.
According to a study performed at Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan, sugars from fruit will stay on your fingers until you wash them with tap water. So, peeling fruit right before you use a blood sugar meter or eating some juicy fruit with your hands, for example, could lead to an inaccurate reading even if you rub your finger with alcohol first.

How to Test for Candida in Men
Article by David Southey
Candida in men appears to be a recent phenomenon, as there has never been much awareness of the infection by men. However it is not a recent phenomenon at all. There was always a misconception that yeast infection is found only in women, and that men are immune to it. But recent studies have been contrary to this widely held belief and the infection has been found to consistently affect men as well. The main reason this awareness has only recently emerged, is because most men tend to just put up with the sometimes subtle symptoms that affect them.
There are various reasons why the yeast infection spreads in men and the general lack of awareness has so far made it hard to detect. Irrespective of what the reason is for the infection to spread, it can be easily treated. There are varying levels of candida in the human body and your body copes well with it due to all of the good bacteria in your system, which keeps it in control.

Dad exercise diabetes/smoking?
Question by Jon: Dad exercise diabetes/smoking?
Hello so my dad is 45 years old. He is a heavy smoker maybe pack+ a day he does drink alot. he has diabetes, who was hospitalized for his lungs(pneuomia) at one time. He’s pretty active still, not overweight. He does live a pretty wild life meaning he lives like a young person does and does some things a young adult would do which i know is not very good for his health. I am wondering if he was to start exercising what would be that best way to start? i am not too sure that jogging would be appropriate for him since he has not been use to that type of exercise and wouldnt want to rush into things. SO just wondering if anybody out there has tips is in the same situation for somebody who drinks/smokes. Whats a good start walking? he does lift weights occasionally. Thanks
