Anyone in Disease Control Know How To Help?

Question by I just want to know!: Anyone in Disease Control Know How To Help?
Hi, in my church congregation is a woman with type 2 diabetes. I was woozy in church this past Saturday, and she insisted that she use her monitoring equipment on me to check my blood sugar. She swears up and down that she used a new lancet, but used her own lancet pen to house the new lancet so I could put it against my skin to prick my finger. After she did this, a few hours later, I found out that she did, in fact have Hepatitis C. I am scared that I might have contracted it from this one episode, since this is the only time I have done this – I usually use only my own equipment at home. I am really worried now and went to the ER that night to get baseline tests and IG for Hep B and vaccinations for Hep A and Hep B, but that’s all they could do for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis for Hep C they said. I am really scared. What are the chances that I got Hep C from this situation, – I did not see any blood on the endcap of the lancet pen, but I know for a fact now that she definietly has Hep C.

I was tested and had elevated results and now have to go in for the three hour test after fasting for 12 hours….
I already tried the test 2 days ago but had to postpone it because I threw up the glucose “cocktail”.
Anyone know any tricks to keeping it down in a fasting state?

I have 2 JRT’s One is 3 that is OZ who you see pictures of and the his brother is Russy and hes 2. He is on OZ’s page he is the one with the wired hair. Well Russy has began to have medical issues this past month. He began to have allergies that were making his belly and paws red. This was being treated with Pretezone from my vet. (I am sorry for the spelling on some of the medication I mention) This medication began to get him real down and sleepy so my vet changed the medication to Medrol. He was on Medrol for 8 days and this past wednesday the 8th he began to vomit. He vomited a total of 11 times that day. The first two times he vomited a bit of his food and the rest was just water that he had drank the rest of the day. He lost his appetite and does not want to eat anything. From peanut butter to soft food I mean nothing. He was put on medication for the vomiting Sucralfate, Metoclopramide and one more that I can not remember. This did not help and He has become more weak and does not want even water at this point. Saturday I took his back to the vet and had more X-rays were taken along with blood work and urinary analysis. His X-rays show that his intestines might have a blockage. The X-rays show a bit of cloudiness but nothing significant that can be seen. He is currently in the hospital on IV and fluids. A Barium was done today so maybe we can get a clearer idea with new X-rays if something is blocking his intestines. The Barium was negative and the fluid passed right through all his organs. The next step was an ultrasound that also came back negative. All of his organs from kidneys to liver were fine. He had a pendesitis test ran to rule out diabetes and that came out okay as well. The blood work did show some high and low levels of many things but the vets say that can be to not eating for 5 days and not receiving the proper nutrition were the body is starting to brake down its own body fat. My next option is Exploratory surgery. I am positive that he has not gotten into anything that he might have swallowed but with JRT you never know. They are quick, curious and sneaky. I keep my yard extremely clean and my house has never had any toxins like cleaning supply or garage stuff left out. I will do anything for my JRT but I fear that after the surgery I will still not have any answers to why he has not appetite for 5 days going on to 6.
Has anyone ever had any issues similar to mine?
If anyone can offer any advice it would be great. I love my JRT I do not have kids so these are my kids. I am desperately seeking answers.!

My mother had Gestational Diabetes when she gave birth to her last child at the age of about 46, so my doctor tested me at my 3 month appointment. I’ve just returned from vacation to learn that my results were “abnormal”. I am scheduled for the 3 hour test next week, but I am just wondering if anyone had abnormal results with the first test but normal results after taking the 3 hour test. Thanks.

I’ve been told to take Glucophage pills. My doctor prescribed them. But I don’t want to. If I drop my weight from 184 (now) to about 160 (over a period of about four months), and exercise hard every day, will my glucose readings after a 10-hour fast read within normal range? (It tests at about 150 mg/dl now each morning).
Have YOU conquered the disease by changing your own lifestyle?

Does anyone know how to self-test for diabetes?

I’m wondering if anyone knows how to self-test for diabetes. I recently graduated from college, and thus don’t have any health insurance to see a doctor.

I display some worrying symptoms:

Sometimes I loose my vision. Huge patches just go dark, and I have to move my head around to look at things between what’s blotted out. This has occasionally occurred over the past several years.

Since I was a child, I’ve had to urinate about every 30-45 minutes, if not more.

Anyone have diabetes during pregnancy?

I am 15 weeks pregnant and I had gestational diabetes with my last child. I am going in for a early glucose test in two weeks, but the doc wanted me to start pricking my finger and testing now just so she can see what is it usually. The last few day I have been feeling shakey and have a headach and just can’t seem to control my blood sugar. The doctor never told me what a normal pregnant blood sugar should be. Does anyone know? It has been 60 before and right now its up to 210. Which way should it be, up or down?
The only thing with sugar I have had today is a glass of caffeine free coke.
