KK, thank you.
I tested my child’s blood sugar level a couple hours after eating the other day and it was 296. About an hour later it was 201. I’ve tested her first thing in the morning yesterday (blood sugar was 118) and today (blood sugar was 128) without eating. Should I call the doctor or just continue to watch her? I should mention she’s got bladder/urinary problems also (spastic bladder).
Ok, I don’t think my question was very clear so I’m asking again a little different.
I bought one of those home Diabetes self testing kits (to see if you might have diabetes). I have never been diagnosed with anything, I take no medications, and this is a one time only test. (I have one extra test that I could retake).
I took the test before eating breakfast. The results was between 75mg/dl & 50 mg/dl (clearly somewhere in the middle) – color matching test. I do not want to take a regular clinic test sinceThe cost is too high and not covered by my insurance. I am self employed and don’t want any negitive results on my medical record. I may want to switch insurance companies in the future.
I failed the one hour test, and am taking the 3 hour test at 8:30am tommorrow. The doctor mentioned fasting, but I was still in bed and groggy when hubbie came in with the phone and I missed how long I was supposed to fast for.
I know it was 2 hours for the one hour test, but I think it is longer for the 3 hour test?
We had a bake sale for work today and all the leftovers are here and are VERY tempting! I’m supposed to get tested for gestational diabetes in the morning. Will eating sweets the night before affect the results of my test?
Sorry I should have added this. I’m at no known risk of diabetes. It’s just a thing they check for. I just hardly eat sweets and seeing them while being pregnant is making me want them! I just didn’t want to make the test inaccurate since I hardly eat sweets.
My test came back negative. That night I had a piece of white cake with whipped white frosting, a brownie topped with powdered sugar, chocolate chip ice cream, and 2 glasses of orange juice and 2 glasses of water. What a pig ha ha!
I failed my 1 hour gestational diabetes test last friday. My level was 146 which isn’t extremely high but high enough they recommended I take the three hour test. I was told that I have to fast the whole morning before the test which concerns me because I become extremely ill when I dont eat. If I eat that morning or drink a caffinated drink will it make me fail the test?
I failed my one hour gestational diabetes test only with a 146 which isn’t that bad but enough that my OBGYN wants me to take the 3 hour test. I was told that the three hour test is a fasting test but the problem is I get really sick if I dont eat when my body says I’m hungry. If I eat before I go in for my test will it make my blood sugar levels come out high? Thank you for your help.
I am newly diabetic (about 3 months now). I was diagnoses with asthma a week ago and have been put on steroids for 13 days to help rid the symptoms that have kept me up at night and caused me to miss 4 days of work already. The steroids are causing my sugar to be higher than it should be. It is 301 now. At what level should I become concerned and contact my doctor?
