Before you turn over the care, you can do a lot to prepare your child by letting him participate in what you do for him. Start by asking for his ideas and views about how you take care of his diabetes. Be sure to listen to what he says and show that you take him seriously by turning his reasonable suggestions into reality. This collaboration will have many benefits for your child, including the following:

Curdale is a 19 year old with type 1 diabetes. after turning 19 he was bumped off his father’s insurance, and now he has no means to get the three types of insulin he needs to keep living. We tried to get him help through the state and he was denied, they say he needs to be declared disabled. We are talking about a young man who has had diabetes since the age of 9 and has reached 1800 in blood sugars. He/We need help badly. His insulin alone cost $218.00 a piece. this does not include testing supplies.there has to be someone who has compassion for this young man, my child.

I had Gestational Diabetes with my first pregnancy and carried my son until 37 weeks, and he was only 5lb 6oz. I did have to use a small bit of insulin to keep the levels under control. All of the scary articles talk about big babies….. did anyone else experience something like this? I am now at 28 weeks of my second pregnancy and I just tested positive for GD again.

Today I took my daughter to the doctor cause I thought for sure she had a UTI. They did the urine test and I told the doctor what was going on, but her urine came back clean. He asked me a few questions, like if she was tired a lot, I said yes, but I thought it was because of school, then he asked if her appetite has increased and I said yes, but I figured it was from her growing. He said he wants her tested for diabetes right away. I always thought when a child is first diagnosed with diabetes they were extremely sick. So…my question is, when your child was first diagnosed, was he/she very sick or just a few symptoms, and what symptoms did they have?
My daughter urinates alot, and she eats a lot too, but she hasn’t lost any weight, and she has always drank a lot. How hard is it on you to have it? She’s only 6

Okay so I have to go in for my 3 hour screening because my test before was really high. I’ve heard that the chances of actually have it are not that great just because I failed the first glucose test. But I was wondering what would that mean if I went and failed my 3 hour test- what would happen from there and how will this affect my unborn baby and I.

I have a 4 year old who drinks excessively and goes to the bathroom frequently, and he doesn’t like to eat. I took him to the dr and they did a urine sample and said there was no glucose in his urine. I am not sure if glucose always shows up in urine with JD or if I should have them do a blood test and stuff to confirm that he doesn’t have it. Please anyone with advice, help me!!
