Diabetes Blood Sugar Control

Article by Jonathan Berns, D.C.

Blood sugar control is critical for all people suffering from type 2 diabetes. High levels of blood in your sugar can be very damaging to the body because of the inflammation that it causes. Many people do not understand the connection between high blood sugar levels and inflammation.

Blood sugar control can play a major role in reducing inflammation in the body. As blood sugar levels increase in your body, the glucose or sugar in your blood stream can bond with your red blood cells. Sugar connects itself to the hemoglobin molecule which is part of the red blood cells. If your blood sugar levels are in control, there is a lower amount of sugar that is attached to the hemoglobin. If you do not have your levels of sugar in your blood under control, then the amount of sugar attached to the hemoglobin molecules becomes very high. This is particularly the case for people with type 2 diabetes.

Anyone in Disease Control Know How To Help?

Question by I just want to know!: Anyone in Disease Control Know How To Help?
Hi, in my church congregation is a woman with type 2 diabetes. I was woozy in church this past Saturday, and she insisted that she use her monitoring equipment on me to check my blood sugar. She swears up and down that she used a new lancet, but used her own lancet pen to house the new lancet so I could put it against my skin to prick my finger. After she did this, a few hours later, I found out that she did, in fact have Hepatitis C. I am scared that I might have contracted it from this one episode, since this is the only time I have done this – I usually use only my own equipment at home. I am really worried now and went to the ER that night to get baseline tests and IG for Hep B and vaccinations for Hep A and Hep B, but that’s all they could do for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis for Hep C they said. I am really scared. What are the chances that I got Hep C from this situation, – I did not see any blood on the endcap of the lancet pen, but I know for a fact now that she definietly has Hep C.

When sugar is low, an injection of the hormone glucagon will tell your body storage sites (primarily liver) to start releasing the glucose into the bloodstream. An injection of the hormone glucagon tells the body to put more sugar in the blood. The result is that the storage of glucose stops, stops production of fat and sugar is released into the bloodstream.
