There are over 20 million children and adults in the United States that have diabetes. Many of these people can’t afford the necessary supplies to help keep an eye on their condition. The test strips alone cost upwards of 0.00 a box of 100. Not to mention the cost of the meters and insulin needed to help treat this disease. On the other hand there are many people that have too many supplies that they do not need any more. Some are no longer diabetic of they may have changed meters and now have extra test strips that do not work with the new meter.
If you would like to help some of the unfortunate ones that do not have insurance or enough money to afford diabetic supplies they are in dire need of please visit any of these organizations on the internet.

Question by Mr.AnswersQuestions: Do you still need insulin when your blood sugar levels are normal?
So basically, i have a dog that is diabetic, and i want to know if he still needs insulin when his blood sugar levels are normal. I am afraid that if i give him insulin when his blood sugar is normal, he will go below normal.

I am on an Animas Insulin pump, and have been for 4 years. The problem I am having is that I have to buy my pump supplies on my own (had insurance that paid for all of them, but once I lost it, had to pay for the supplies myself for the past year, and current insurance won’t pay for any of them until next month) and they are expensive (about $100 or more a month). I am currently unemployed and my fiance is having to pay for everything for me. He really doesn’t make enough to pay for these supplies. I have to go off of the pump today as it is time to change the insert, but I don’t have anymore supplies. That means going back onto shots (I need 4-6, or more, a day to control the diabetes). I have the supplies for doing this, but hate to do it. I have much better control on the pump.
My question is, does anyone know where I can get the pump supplies cheaper or for free until insurance kicks in? I am also having the same problem with test strips and can’t find anyplace to get those.

I’m in the process of getting a diagnoses for PCOS. I have many of the symptoms but this question, I’m focusing on sugar levels and insulin resistance.
I have a blood test, part of which was to look at my blood sugar levels and they came back normal.. would this rule out insulin resistance or could I still have insulin resistance?
I’m obese, and I don’t eat a lot, and yet I’m still putting on weight so I feel I must have insulin resistance that’s related to PCOS but I’m not sure since I have normal blood sugar levels.
Thanks in advance.

She does not qualify for medicaid, or medicare. She has no insurance and her bills take up 75-80% of her monthly income. She only has enough supplies to last a week at best. We need help ASAP!!!
She doesn’t quaify for medicare because she is only 63.
Medicaid told her they could help her if she met a spend down of $1000. which is most of her income before her bils.

I am 15 years old and I just got out of the hospital and found out that I have diabetes but we arent sure what type yet since that takes a while to test and find out. I am currently taking 40 units of Lantus and taking Novolog before breakfast, lunch, and dinner and before my snacks. I was wandering how long i have to wait to be able to get an insulin pump. I know that it will be at least 6 months because they want me to know how to give myself shots in case something happened to my pump. I was also wandering how much would an insulin pump cost. I believe my family uses Edgepark to get our diabetes supplies. Thanks for your answers.
