If a person were being tested for diabetes, how long would it take to get the blood test results back? Thanks.

My 5 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter have been showing signs of diabetes and recently got their A1c test done. Both came back normal but they are still having high glucose readings. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts.
I am a Type I, diagnosed in the last year so my dr wants me to test the kids when they wake up, it’s usually 160. Also to test them when they don’t feel well which is usually before dinner. My son test around 180-200 before we eat dinner and that is 5-6 hrs after his lunch at school.
Ok so the dr said today their A1C were 5.5 and 5.2 but are still sending them to an endocrynologist.

I have diabetes and when I take my blood sugar level with my meter, the leval is not the same depending on which finger I use. For instance, I just took my test with my middle finger and got a reading of 101. I did another with my third finger, just seconds later, and got a reading of 104. I know this is not much but a friend of mine has differences of 100 or more doing the same thing. How can this be?

Can you help me understand my diabetes test results?

Took an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test and after 2 hrs, it was 149 mg/dl and also they took blood for something called an A1C test and that was at 4.9%.

Protein in urine…awaiting test results!?

So I had a urinalysis last Wednesday morning, and the doctor checked it as soon as I supplied the urine sample, and she informed me that I had a rather high amount of protein in my urine, so they were going to send it to a lab for further testing. I’m afraid its diabetes, or kidney failure, and I’m very anxious awaiting the results!
Now, my question basically, is
how long would this type of test take, being sent to an outside lab and all? I have no idea, and I also have no iidea what they’re testing it for, or how. So if anyone can provide a little insight, it would be much appreciated.
And also, if anyone has any ideas about what it could be, (the high protein in the urine), that would be much appreciated also!
Thankyou.

My mother had Gestational Diabetes when she gave birth to her last child at the age of about 46, so my doctor tested me at my 3 month appointment. I’ve just returned from vacation to learn that my results were “abnormal”. I am scheduled for the 3 hour test next week, but I am just wondering if anyone had abnormal results with the first test but normal results after taking the 3 hour test. Thanks.

My mom tested her blood sugar and it said over 200. My brother tested and it said 61. I tested and it said 41. Are these correct numbers or did it alter the results by 3 people using the same meter? Im out of strips.

For the past 2 months, I’ve been having frequency issues. There is no burning or constant urge to go, I’m just going more often, say every 30 minutes to 2 hrs. I have gone back to my local doctor twice and both times she diagnosed it as a UTI. Neither drug she prescribed (macrobid or amoxicillin) has given me any relief.
Finally I decided to get a full exam at Planned Parenthood (40 minutes away from where I live!!) as a second opinion. They said I DID NOT have any infections but that my urine had Protein, white blood cells, AND ALOT of ketones in it. They ended up gaving me a referral for a diabetes test.
When I went back to my local doctor two days later to schedule the lab appointment for the diabetes test, they insisted on giving me another urine test which came out clean. They instead gave me a months supply of Detrol AL for bladder spasms. It doesn’t seem to me that something as serious as ketones would just dissappear over 2 days time. Not sure what to do at this point.
Any comments or ideas of what could be causing my urination issues are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was told to fast 8 hours before taking some lab tests – blood & urine. I had a cup of green tea, no sugar or milk, before the test. Wondering if that will skew test results.
