Blood Glucose Test for Diabetes – Home Testing

Article by Amy Stephens

Usually after having done a b glucose test at a clinical lab and being diagnosed either as a diabetic or borderline diabetic, we are advised to carry out regular b g tests and the best way to do so is right at home. Any drug store will have a number of brands and models of b g testers or glucometers. The most common and reliable type of b g testing kit includes a meter (called the glucometer), a lancing device commonly known as the ‘lancing pen’ (used to extract a tiny drop of blood), and g test strips.

If you are using the glucometer for the first time, you need to locate the ‘coding strip’ in the test strip container. Insert this coding strip into the special slot (usually on the side of the glucometer). The coding strip calibrates the glucometer. This exercise has to be done every time you buy a new supply of b glucose test strips.

Because hypoglycemia can effect your driving performance (even modestly low blood sugar can do this), if you are at all prone to hypoglycemia, I personally would strongly recommend you check out your blood sugar level each time you are about to drive.

Prior to you putting the key in the ignition, test your blood sugar. There are some great glucometers out there, like the Accu-Check Compact with the Accu-Check Multi-clix lancet pen.

Avail Best Deal For Diabetes Testing Equipment

Article by MIchelle Nisa

Are you looking for best deals for purchasing diabetes testing equipment? If you are going to buy any diabetes supplies online, you need to be extra careful as it is observed that many of the online companies do not follow medical standards strictly. In the process of providing cheap or low rate medical supplies they usually compromise on quality. As these companies operate from different countries they are not subject to FDA standards. As far as possible try to purchase medical supplies from your own country so that you can be aware of your consumer rights and it will be easy for you to ensure that you are buying only standard supplies.

Another major problem noticed while purchasing diabetes supplies online is some websites do not check prescriptions thoroughly. You are seriously risking your health if you are purchasing any medical supplies from such companies who do not bother to thoroughly examine your prescription. If the website from where you are buying is operating from within US ask for their license and carefully scan through their sales returns policies. Many companies offer 60 to 90 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the equipment.

The Importance of Blood Sugar Testing

Article by Kristian Primdal

Blood sugar testing is one of the most important tests that people should undergo. It doesn’t only help detect and monitor diabetes, it also helps identify any underlying conditions that may be present.

Blood sugar levels can be determined using a blood glucose test. This type of test measures how much glucose or sugar is in the blood sample. A medical professional draws blood and uses this sample to perform the glucose test. For teens and adults, blood is usually taken from a vein; in children and infants, skin may be punctured using a lancet in order to take a small sample of the blood.
